BP Vessel Move
In June of 2019, FT&L Specialized was
contacted by one of its dedicated customers
to make a difficult transport from Tulsa OK
to Wando SC. The vessel weighed 80,000
pounds, had a transport height of 18’10”, 17’
10” width, and a overall length of 128’. We
utilized our 40ton perimeter frame trailer
coupled with one of our 605 hp Peterbilt
389’s. The journey took us from Tulsa OK
through southern TX into LA, zig zagging
through the southern states for a total of 30
days before reaching our final destination. At
the peak of the transport, there were as
many as 30 support vehicles including State
police, pilot vehicles, bucket trucks, various
utility companies and private security.
Pictured here is a sensitive “wrong way” rail
crossing where the vessel height exceeded
the height of the rail warning system. The
precision maneuver to cross the rails,
concrete median and avoid the warning
system took days of planning and
developing contingencies. The maneuver
was completed in less than 12 minutes.
Sexton Vessel Colorado Flare Stack
In April of 2019, FT&L Specialized transported
a 64’ long 15’ tall and 15’8” wide flare stack
from Cincinnati OH to Denver CO. This
unique move was completed in less than 7
days, meandering through the central US with
a 4 person team, meeting our customers time
sensitive requirements with 3 days to spare.
